WINIX 6300-2 DESIGN AND SIZE
Like I said earlier, the point to release the Winix 6300-2 is maintaining the old design of Winix 5500-2, and just only change the internals. Come on, so we are still looking at a very old model in 2021…
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix. It seems the Winix 6300-2 follows the rule strictly with not a slight change from the previous Winix 5500-2. The build quality is still standard with the plastic body, as well as a small but stable base to keep it on ground. The color option of Winix 6300-2 is black tinted, just like the model Winix 5500-2.
So far, Winix continues to keep up with the bottom-to-top air flow system. This is also my favorite air flow concept for a compact air purifier, just like the Winix 6300-2. Mentioning about the size, the Winix 6300-2 is only 23.6 inches in height, which is another similarity to the predecessors.
On top of this Winix 6300-2, the control panel remains the same, too. It quite leans on top, to help you press the buttons much easier than the old model Winix WAC6300 or Winix WAC9500. You can find here the air sensor and LED light indicator of this Winix 6300-2.

So to say, Winix 6300-2 weighs the same with only 15.4 lbs. If you are familiar with the design concept of old Winix products, you will know it is simple to move the Winix 6300-2 around your home with the built-in handles.
WINIX 6300-2 FILTERS
The reason you search for the Winix 6300-2 instead of the old Winix 5300-2 is mostly because of the next-gen air filtration system. And here you are, the new 4-stage air cleaning system of Winix 6300-2.
- Pre-filter – The polluted air must first pass through a fine mesh pre-filter. This pre-filter will help capture the large objects of contaminants, such as pet hair and even some kinds of pet dander and skin.
- Activated Carbon filter – The carbon sheet filter is the same as old devices, which offers odor protection against household odors from cooking, pets and smoke, as well as adsorbs the chemicals and VOCs.
- True HEPA filter – The True HEPA Filter that captures 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
- Winix PlasmaWave – This technology is one kind of ionizer, which can further reduce the amount of pollutants. Can be switched on/off.
Well, with the new fine mesh pre-filter, the Winix 6300-2 can capture the large objects of pollutants more efficiently. As a result, the pre-filter can reduce the stock of the large particles on the surface of HEPA filter, to prolong its lifetime (the larger objects can destroy the fibers of HEPA filter quickly). While it is a well-built air filter, the True HEPA filter of Winix 6300-2 still can only last for 1 year, just like the old Winix 5300-2 and Winix 5500-2.
I used the same test of Winix 5300-2 to apply into the Winix 6300-2, meaning this air purifier needs to run in a room of 200 square feet for 1 hour. I still use the Honeywell 50250 and Honeywell AirGenius 4 as the challengers of Winix 6300-2. The result, this Winix 6300-2 can deal with 99.95% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, which is better than the Honeywell 50250. The Honeywell AirGenius 4 has an efficiency of only 92%.
WINIX 6300-2 ROOM COVERAGE
With so many similarity both inside and outside, I know that the Winix 6300-2 can’t exceed the predecessors in terms of fan power. So this air purifier is mostly suitable for a room of 360 square feet, which is quite similar to the GermGuardian AC5900W and even Philips 2000i.
WINIX 6300-2 SOUND
Same fan power will release the same noise level, and that’s why you can easily know the noise level of Winix 6300-2 to be just 28 decibels (db).
Winix is an air purifier brand with fame in making low noise level air purifiers. Even with a much better fan power, this company improves the fan to reduce the noise level as low as possible. This is also the effort Winix tries to do to reduce the ozone emission from their PlasmaWave technology.
WINIX 6300-2 POWER CONSUMPTION
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.
Again, with the same materials to make the air purifier, Winix 6300-2 has a power consumption of about 70 watts. Of course, it is higher than others in the low-range market, like the Levoit LV-PUR131 only run with 40 watts, or the Honeywell AirGenius 4 with maximum of 38 watts. So to say, it costs you much more in the long-term running with this Winix 6300-2.
For using Winix 6300-2 8 hours per day, it would cost you about $25 per year. You should know the Winix 6300-2 is still one air purifier with Energy Star rating, and though it has higher power consumption, it would cost you only $0.07 per day to keep your air clean.
WINIX 6300-2 ADDITIONAL FEATURES
So far, Winix is the pioneer in adding the air sensor into even the budget air purifier like Winix P150. We don’t need to ask for the Smart Sensor in the Winix 6300-2, because it is the must-have feature of this brand.
Well, it is the same air sensor that is built in the Winix 5300-2 and Winix 5500-2. Every time it detects the change in your indoor air quality, it will notify you via a beautiful LED indicator. Moreover, if you are running your Winix 6300-2 in Auto Mode, it can automatically adjust the fan speed to match the environment. With this function, you don’t need the remote control anymore. You only need to turn on the air purifier, and forget it.
OUR VERDICT
After many tests, I can safely conclude that the fine mesh pre-filter does improve the efficiency of Winix 6300-2. But the result is not significant compared with the older devices like Winix 5300-2 and Winix 5500-2, so if you can’t grab a really good deal of Winix 6300-2, you can turn for these aforementioned air purifiers as well.
